It comes with Grizzly that provides static file caching and is a highly efficient frontend. There are other reasons you may want to front end such as not exposing your entire App server outside firewall, flexibility to add more instances if the load grows and others.

Are you considering v2 or v3 ?

Here are some entries that might be useful in case you decide to front-end:

GlassFish Gem + nginx: http://blogs.sun.com/arungupta/entry/totd_81_how_to_use

Apache + mod_prxy_balancer: http://blogs.sun.com/arungupta/entry/totd_84_using_apache_modArun Guptahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16061355511504961025noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20975090.post-29380282393057432202009-08-07T07:32:38.469-05:002009-08-07T07:32:38.469-05:00Is it a good practice to host application on pure ...Is it a good practice to host application on pure Glassfish server (not gem) without any additional webserver (like apache, nginx, etc)?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20975090.post-72422392585514903732009-08-04T19:49:24.689-05:002009-08-04T19:49:24.689-05:00sinclair: GlassFish, like most Sun OSS properties,...sinclair: GlassFish, like most Sun OSS properties, is licensed GPL v2 but with the "Classpath Exception".
